My Goodness...Ice!

Here's the car. We got the promised freezing rain. I had a bad feeling this morning as I was looking at my email. The power "stuttered" for half a heartbeat and then, did that again four times. I thought that I was in for a freezing inside of the house rest of the day but so far, so good.

There is a front coming up from the Gulf and it is raising temps above freezing so we have a chance of nothing but normal rain from this point on.

I live on a steep hill but even if I did not, no way would I go onto the streets. They are all "a solid sheet of ice".

To better weather..here's me raising my coffee cup to you.

  1. Here's to an early Spring! LOL!

Definitely stay off the roads. I finally smartened up and got ice grippers for my boots and they make the world of difference on foot. But unless you have studs on your tires, you're out of luck driving on a sheet of ice.

  2. Carole, this is unheard of, you've got us beaten for bad weather two times in a row now! The look of such things is beautiful but driving in it is quite the opposite of beautiful. Stay safe my friend.

  3. Oh but it's a glorious looking day! The snow is coming down in buckets and as long as the power holds out, this is the bees knees. Sam and Lucy are both in a window and occasionally smacking the elusive flake on the outside of the window and I'm on my 3rd cup of coffee and just loving this day.
Ice? not yet...and you need to stay inside, too. Ice is nothing to fool around with. Today is a day for movies and quilts and kitties :D
    XOXOXO

  4. The ice we had here last evening was unbelievable, this morning there are cars everywhere that were just abandoned or in ditches. It was quite the entertainment just sitting here looking out the window watching those people who thought they could drive up the road in that stuff....too funny

  5. Last night there were streets in Huntsville closed and overpasses. A close call, but we may get snow this weekend.

  8. Carole, thank you SO much for those sweet words about my Sam. He perked right up when I told him. Didn't I tell you that he and Admiral would have made a great couple? I'm whispering so Lucy won't hear, but it's true. If they had been "intact", wow, the kittens would have been out of sight gorgeous :D

  9. We finally got hit big with snow. We now have over 2 feet. For a few days it was shoveling everyday. We didn't get our hill driveway clear well the 1st outing with the car and didn't make it back up our driveway. Hubby went and got our monster truck that has chains on all tires and back down the hill and hook me up and pulled me up the rest of the hill. Now have it cleared properly, but am having a party on Sunday and worry most my guests might be walking up the hill. Love your previous photo of Miss Catt with the Santa hat. Too cute. Hope you are enjoying the Christmas excited. Hugs Carrie

  10. ......and you KNOW I just read your next note to me, LOLLLLLLL. I am in a fit of laughter! I can just see the Admiral and Lucy sharing toys and cuddling up. Lucy would find something she liked and never give it back. It's true; when she lays claim on something, it's hers. Poor Sam has had more things stolen from him and he just lets her do it. He is far too nice to her, yet when he has something she wants? Man, she'll nail him in a heartbeat to steal whatever toy it is away from him. Then she SITS on the toy and gloats!

  13. We didn't have much ice here. Not that I'm complaining. Our snow is about gone after all the rain. It has felt good having the temps in the mid 30's instead of the teens.
