Saturday News

If it didn't look so grotesque I would add a photo of my just out of the cast pitiful shrunken-yet-swollen arm and hand.  Arm flesh is compressed due to being so tightly confined within the long arm cast.  My hand is swollen due to a lack of movement and a tight cast!  It looks horrible so I'll spare you. ;-)  I do have a brace though to help support the bone for a few weeks. Therapy is badly needed and will start sometime next week.

My youngest took me to the orthapaedic clinic as he has done since the first day.  He took me for a celebratory supper afterward.  I even had dessert.  No more fainting feelings now as I have begun to eat.  I lost so much weight I pull my fully fastened and zipped jeans up over me.  That will end as I am remembering to eat now.  Before I didn't really eat as it didn't occur to me to.  That's done.  But before I started eating again,  by late afternoon I was woozey and fainty feeling when I didn't eat and I still didn't have a clue!  ;-)  I think I get it now!!

Just checking in.  xoxoxo

  1. So very happy you are out of that cast and can now begin therapy. Yes, not eating can make one light headed - so eat girl - eat.

  5. Carole that is such good news, to hear, that you are finally at the stage of getting your cast off. It won't take long once you get started with your therapy. You are a fighter, and your determination will be a great asset in regaining your strength. Keep eating good foods with protein to help in the healing process. Before you know it you will be able to once again capture beautiful images with your camera. Hang in there. Take a day at a time, and be encouraged that all will be well. God works out everything for our good, and He will bring healing and restoration. It is so hard going through things like what you have been through but soon it will all be behind you. We may never know why certain things happen in our lives but God knows, and He loves His Children. God Bless you Carole and I know He does.
    Love and Hugs

  6. A great step, to have the cast off. Sorry the tight cast left such a negative impact. A little more time and all will be much more normal.

Yup, eat regular meals and healthy snacks! keep that blood sugar where it needs to be.

  10. Great to have that cast off, isn't it? When I got my last one off....yes, I've had more than one....the folks at the PT center turned me on to something marvelous; a hot paraffin bath. You dip your arm in it and remove it several times until you get a nice coat of warm wax then cover it with a warm towel of special glove and just relax for a while. The wax cools in about 15 minutes and you just peel it off. My arm and hand felt so good after the first treatment that I stopped at Rite Aid on the way home and bought a smaller version to take home! My mom tried it and she bought one, as well. It's also great for arthritis aches and pains.

Shameless plug time- I made a little video of me playing a few blogs back. Nancy or Beth or maybe you wanted to hear me speak. Accent you know. I didn't know what to say so I didn't say much and played a couple of things.
