GOOD luck!

You get up early (I always do thanks to four footed alarm clock) and get 'cherself dressed and out the door and your reward at the farmers market is: Strawberries.  I heard the farmer (he is one) tell another customer that they will be available maybe another week.

they ARE sweet too!
Meanwhile, I got some green beans and they are so fresh that they sound like firecrackers when you break them into pieces.  They are cooking as we speak.

This pot belonged to my dad and mom when they first got married for pete sakes.  It looks rough.

I also got me some red 'taters.  Some are very tiny.  LOVE these and I will put them in with the green beans to cook in the last 15 minutes or so.  This may just be a southern thing..I don't know.

Then, remembering my Dad I bought a few green onions or scallions.  Oh man, what a feast I will have.  I have a tiny steak I could have with these fresh veggies but I would rather just eat and enjoy them without meat.

Let me at 'em...
So you see my dinner this evening.  And dessert!

  7. There were strawberries where we were this morning. They were $6.00 for a container like yours. Your meal sounds delicious! Just the way we do green beans and red potatoes sometimes. We came home with kale and broccoli today. I thought about heading your direction, but we would have had to be up earlier than we were.;-)

  8. I'm not sure if it's a southern either thing but green beans and potatos sound good to me. I might try that and add some onions, olive oil and a little oregano. I can't help it I'm Italian.

  9. The strawberries look divine. The local ones are available for such a brief time. We'll have to wait a few more weeks or so, I think. I buy berries year-round now, of course, but they're not the same, shipped up from California or wherever. We used to have tons of *wild* strawberries when I was growing up, but it was a lot of picking for very little return, they were so tiny.

Enjoy all your wonderful food! I just had some raspberries with Greek yogurt on top, and a drizzle of raw honey. Yum!

  14. OMC - those strawberries look so delicious. I'm so jealous that you have fresh ones already. We'll be lucky to get some around July 4th. Can't wait. Love fresh veges, but never tried the beans and potato combination. Love new red patatos and love green beans, but not sure about being boiled together.
