Those Stores I Go To.

Ackshully, those stores I go to...there are two in Charlotte NC  that I love and show things fromhere in the blog...are huge.  I thought I would mention a few things because I haven't in other blogs where I show what I buy or what I enjoy seeing.

They are as large as the so-called big box stores.. and all consignment goods.  Usually somewhat high end.  Especially the furniture.  No clothing, no five and dime type things.   I never take  pictures of the furniture as it does not interest me.  I couldn't afford toby any, any anyway.  There are china cabinets for several thousands..bedroom ensembles for more than that, and desks to make you wish you could have them.  All manner of things, even paintings; and as John said in the last blog, they take you back in time when they have the old old antique things as those flat irons and gas stoves I have shown.  I ought to take a 10 second  panorama video to show how large.

They aren't pawn shops nor thrift stores...just consignment.

Wish you could come along.  I look forward to those stores each visit there !

  1. Not sure about the others who left a comment, but I know you didn't mean a thrift store...To clarify, I meant that when I go thrift-store shopping, I don't see anything cool like those items and that if I want to, I need to check out the antique/collectable shops around town. None are the size of a box store, though! I guess we're not large enough.

  2. I haven't shopped at any consignment stores, although I don't know why. Not really in the market for furniture, but one never knows! Sounds like they are a treasure trove of nifty stuff...and who would like to browse that?!?

  5. Everywhere there is stuff for a lot of money. I think the price is negotiable at consignment shops.... sometimes. If there is something made in the US of A I am always impressed, especially if it is old stuff.
We do not keep a lot of old stuff in this country.
A few years ago, my daughter bought a solid oak table and 4 chairs, expandable table with two leaves, kind of a kitchen set. She paid $75 for the whole thing from some stuuuuuupid girl in Arlington Va. She said it was her grammas set. I told Lizzie to snap it up.
The girl, meantime, said she wanted to buy something more modern......HAHAHAHA most probably made in China. Lizzie bought that on Craigs list and we snapped it up and quickly!! She and Jerome still have that table and will probably keep it forever. Solid oak made in NC, pristine condition.
This stuff, especially the statues and odd things, I wonder if they are remakes or all real stuff, made by skilled ARTISANS.
Daddy and I went to the outlets in Leesburg Va (anther silly place to shop for over priced stuff) and went into a store called "restore hardware" or something like that. FULLLLL of stuff made in China, Big couches, cribs, tables I did not see any hardware
Everything was made in China, and it was just okay. High dollar though.
It is good to look around though. It does excite me to look at clutter.
    Have a fun Sunday

  6. Dearest Carole,
That is always interesting and works like an educative history lesson at times. Oh, there are so many over the top pieces of furniture and so-called antiques. YES, so-called as there is a lot of fake out there and reproduction pieces made to look real. My late 1st husband was in the furniture business and I know a couple of tricks. For the US market it got always shipped to the UK for entering than as Antique.
But like you, I always bypass those!
For the rest it is a very interesting study to enter such unique consignment stores and Charlotte NC has lots of them; wish I could go there with you and forget about the world for a while...
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

  7. We have several consignment shops here and my friend sold a ton of stuff in them over the years. I don't go there much but they are amazing in all the items they have...and nothing with thrift store prices though. xo Diana
