Dearest Carole,Wow, that was quite a turtle and a funny pointed nose he got.Wonder what it was...?We've carried turtles across to safety at times, not a snapping turtle though.Hugs,Mariette
What kind of turtle is that? Good job by your friend to help it along to safety!
Soft Shell Spiny.
Wow, he's big! So glad your friend moved him to safety!
I’m sure the turtle is grateful for your friend’s kindness! He has a unique looking face. Never seen one like that!
He/she/it is huge! Very good of your friend to ensure the turtle was moved to a safe place.
I don't know much about turtles, but I think they are cute too!
I love turtles. I used to have 2, bought on the street in NYC, one lived about 10 years and the other, about 12.
I'd move him out of harm's way, too. But then I'd do that for any animal. Unless doing so would get me killed. Well, maybe then, too. If I were fast.
They are so lovely
I live at the bottom of a neighborhood. There is a drainage easement along the property line. That didn't really seem important at the time. But everything above washes down eventually. When I first moved here, there would be thousands of crawdads crushed on the new road because they all wanted to get to the wetlands across the street and they didn't know how to use the storm drains to do that (they do now BTW).But there were also turtles and they are messier on the road when run over. So I got in the habit of helping them. Mostly small ones. But one time, I found a snapping turtle about 18" big. I finally got it on a snow shovel at set it across the roadI also save worms from puddles. I'm a real softy sometimes...
