Spinning Wheel Turns Round and Round

It has poured rain so that there are multiple issued flood warnings.  I am on the highest part of town and I don't have to worry.  Water can never accumulate up here- and it would be like an ocean if it did.  Friday was  beautiful.  The  only day that was all week, however, starting Friday night about 9, it started pouring again and hasn't let up.  I am concerned for my two tomato plants.  They have spread out since I planted them in the container garden but they have received nothing but heavy HEAVY rain since except the one day.

Tomorrow I take one of Katie's favorite human brothers to the University hospital the next City over for yet another surgery.  He will be home after it.  It's extremely important but one that while you have to be careful with bending and stretching he will be OK till be fully recovers from the surgery.  These are not as horrible all the others.  But no walk in the park either.  He has the prayers and loving thoughts of many local friends, Twitter friends and blog friends of Katie's  to carry him along. I am grateful to the max to be available to help with all the hospital visits, and all the other things needed.

My daughter-in-love made a 4 course dinner  today to be ready for us when we return from the hospital tomorrow late late afternoon.  That is so very kind.  I'd make something or order it, but she cooks the meal and brings it over  when we are hospital bound... so instead of cooking or going out again,  I can help him and run around doing things that need to be done.  She and yet another favorite brother of Katie's live half an hour away, but she never fails to help us during all these times. He'll go home Wednesday and her other favorite brother will be here Friday for his visit during his Spring break. Can't wait. I was successful making my first chicken and dumplings a week ago.  So I will make some more for him when he gets here.  If he doesn't like them, the other two will eat them gladly.

That Time of Year

Oh I have been so looking forward to finding these flowers again this Spring  Finally day before yesterday I did.  They are so lovely.   And the fragrance is just heady.  It is so sweetly perfumed.

I never was a particular fan of Petunias through the years until I met these ladies three years ago.  I fell for them like a brick dropping out of the sky.

Nothing in my pots out there on the deck.  I paid 9$ plus tax and shipping for those bombs that aren't going to bloom.  Or even come UP out of the soil is what I should day.  BUT--- tomatoes and peppers it will be.  Need to start looking for the cages.

Got me a good walk in this morning as of old, before I started the low impact aerobics.  When I came home I  got the prancing and dancing done as well.  My iWatch is dazzled! Not with the steps..I routinely get a LOT of those but the work expended that it recorded is twice my usual.

Have to take stuff out of the fridge and clean the shelves and the inside.  Ugh.  Come and do it for me and I'll pay ya! Have to call the carpet cleaners too.  I'l wait til it is a bit warmer as the door stays cracked several hours to allow the water hose access to their truck.  I have have three days of wet carpet.  Steam cleaned. No way to wiggle out of wet. I'll have try to find flip flops to wear.  Poor Katie will just have wet paws.

Had a personally unpleasant thing occur last week.  I could have handled it with my "command presence" (and I do have that. Had to use it for many years at my occupation).   All the usual caveats about finding someone else is not that easy for several reasons. I will determine my action as I go on.

So...I'll enjoy my fragrant sweetheart out on the front porch, perfuming the air.  Guess who else I saw this morning while out?  My total absolute favorite from the time I was a small girl and picked them for my Dad.  Violets just make my heart sing.

Spring!

Well, I got me two LARGE pots as I mentioned in the blog before last, and I had purchased some of what was called, seed balls with wild flowers seeds in them that you just lay and press them into the soil not bury, and it's supposed to come up.  Well, 2 weeks after, I don't see anything.  SO...I have two pots ready for tomatoes and peppers.  I just need to remember to get a tomato "cage" to go around them as they take off into the wild blue yonder!  I failed to do that in time last time I planted them and I broke them trying to get it, the cage, around them.  Going to do better this time.  There is totally NOTHING better than real tomatoes that you have grown, no matter where you grew them.  Out in the soil where the deer and antelope play and eat all your produce along with the possums and especially the raccoons.  OR...in a container garden on the deck 8-10 feet up.

Have to tell you that the raccoons outsmarted me...that wasn't hard to do, and climbed up the deck legs and got on the deck- wrecking the huge tomatoes plants, peppers and anything else I had growing.  They also smashed the hummingbird feeder. Made me pretty upset, especially for the hummingbirds.

I can hardly wait to see this again.  This was several years ago, here.

There's a Reason

I wanted to write my thought and opinion about a matter.  Men and women.

I always said that men and women have differing "hard drives". They think differently, their predilections are different, their bodies certainly are.  Their roles are lived out according to their being a man or a woman. Women will not be as physically strong as men. As a true weight lifter, not body builder, I myself can attest that I was very VERY strong (and still very feminine looking.  Huge muscle buildup in  women is not true). However, equally trained men were stronger because they are made to be, and their body makeup is different.  It's supposed to be.  And they too are beautiful.

Men won't be in on the bearing of a child and why should they be?  Each created the child.  No one of them, man or woman, is better at it that the other. It is a natural function.

Male bashing  has gotten suddenly very very very old to me.  I won't take part in it.  Jokes denigrating men, their roles in life are not my cuppa tea.  TV shows depicting them as below normal in  intellect and useless, is why I turned off the TV and pulled the cable plug.  They are perfect beings as women are perfect beings. Different and equally perfect.

Equal pay for both men and women for the same job.  In my profession, I was paid equally- as the job was, I will only say, demanding.  Not that many women wanted it nor did they want to go through qualifications usually.  I won't give on equal pay for equal work.  That has been an unfair thing for our lifetimes.  But that doesn't make anyone better than the other.  There are just unfair business practices.

Enough.  I just wanted to say men are men and women are women.  I have no desire to say that  anything a man can do, I can do, because I can't.  All the loud shouting doesn't change that men are men and women are women.  Don't want to go the ancient Chinese route do we? Regarding baby girls...only make it baby boys instead of the girls?

Must be Spring

Must be that Spring is near.  Walmart finally opened the garden center again.  I guess they knew not many would haul stuff all the way up front to the grocery section if they wanted to sell it. But I entitled that way because I caught the fever.  I have a few wildflower seeds and went to get another large LARGE pot and some potting soil.  The reason being I have hard as stone, red clay soil and anything I grow any more that isn't a bulb, is going in a pot.  Including veggies, but then too, if I plant in the soil of the yard, the deer, raccoons and squirrels eat my tomatoes, peppers and so on.  So deck  garden it is!  Not started that yet.  Just some flowers.  Got that done. I gots da pots out, dirt in them, what I'm growing from seed in them.  I fed my roses too.  Fed my azaleas and my camellia and my gardenia which has become HUGE.

I have to get an appointment for Katie for her senior physical and her shots. I dread it.  Anyone who has read what she has said the past 5 years nows why.  Thought things would change in the Fear Free clinic but that means sedation and she won't allow ME to do it and now for a years she has not been allowed to have me with her.  The last sedation she had for her physical changed her personality for 2/3's of a year.  She was frightened of her own shadow.  Took her that long 2/3's of a year to get over what ever the two drugs were.  One to put her under, and the other to wake her.  Reaction was so severe they do have it marked not to ever give her that again.

Our dogs and cats and Bunnies are true family to us.  I wish the Vet office techs and others knew that and were always gentle.  Where I go now,  they ARE gentle.  The Vets always are, but this time, the tech are too.  Jack pot. So...what's up?  I know some one is Saskatchewan is busy!  :-)

These magnolias will start budding in another few weeks.  Very large, very fragrant.

New Day

I let you see I was having a disappointing day yesterday.  Sorry.  But today is another day and I have a new appointment on the 16th of March with a pharmacy that knows how to take information; and better still, give information.  So I am all set and everything is in order.

We have had 4 days without rain in a row.  How this valley became a rain forest is beyond me but it has for the most part.  Days without rain are to be enjoyed to the max!

Today however, I will be taking my boy back to his place and then, cleaning the house when I return.  I have antenna TV as I cut the cord probably 4 years ago.  The only disadvantage to me is the one TV channel I will watch with regularity seems to have a bad thing going on at the station a few miles away.  I don't know how to describe what is wrong as I am clueless.  But I do know that the pictures is pixelated more than it isn't, making it increasingly hard to watch.  The other 28 channels I get are all great,  Just the one I want, isn't.  It's not where I have the antenna.  Nothing is wrong except the only channel I watch.  So my much enjoyed Westerns may be on the way out for me since the channel is so poor.  Next, is what I do now:

Comcast was charging me $199.00...I'll just say $200.00 for goodness sakes- a MONTH for basic, nothing AT ALL added TV.  No premium anything.  I watch then and now- 2 channels and the other 40 some channels were/are as  useless to me as mammary glands on a boar hog. The $200.00 a month included phone at $35.00 a month and inside wiring charges at whatever a month plus internet ability.  And at that time I was renting a modem from them.  So now, my internet protocol phone system (yup- it has 911) costs me $35.00 a YEAR.  My modem that I bought when I cut the cord  was under a hundred dollars, same brand as theirs at the time ... and it's mine.  So, I am saving  $2400.00 annually by cutting the cord.  Doesn't hurt me to not have useless never watched channels since I only watch 1, sometimes 2 actually.  And the phone works great.  I do pay $$ for internet.  They charge out the kazoo for just that.  But it still beats $2400.00 annually.  But I am not dependent on TV.  I do like having the internet for the computer.  That's the important thing.  But not at $2400.00 yearly.

See ya on the other side.
