That was Nice

I was in the car fairly early this morning headed into town and just as I turned the corner at the bottom of my hill, 9 deer galloped across the road in front of me.  I saw one just before I got there and knowing this city well I waited in the street, the motor idling and here came the rest of them.  It was a really neat sight.  I think all girls and healthy and big!!!  That was the first nice thing.  Seeing my oldest was the next good thing.  We attended church together two times today and that was the third good thing.  Supper was delicious if I say so muself and there was a bit of cake for dessert.  Hey, duddun git any better!

Tomorrow I have to go to The Big City on an errand for my oldest son and then, boy do I have errands to run.  Whew.  Who knows I may get to work out.

I am posting three day old ice storm pics here just to do it and have done with it.

Ice Storm..

Another edition of "Good Grief!"

The promised ice storm arrived during the wee hours and so I have been here all day and will remain so unless it gets significantly warmer (which it won't tonight) so I can run off to see my boy in rehab.  I was talking to him on the yelly-o-fone and he understands of course (he has a TV in his room) that the liklihood of being there this evening is distant.  Maybe tomorrow.

I would rather snow..anything than ice.  Hate ice.  It has traveled upward to 33 degrees here where I am.  There is a pocket of colder air right over the valley and so when the rain makes its way from the West toward here, it falls as freezing rain still.  Sigh.

At noon thirty I went out cautiously to get the morning paper which was coated in an ice jacket.  I took the camera in case I did NOT fall and remained upright so as to take a couple of hasty pics.  Here they is:

Thunder Snow

We had our first snow storm yesterday and it was thunder snow.  The NWS in Morristown said we had 11 cloud to ground lightening strikes during the worst of the snow fury.  It was just hammering down.  Large wet flakes.  Stuck instantly of course.  The weatherman said on the local TV channel that there were over 8 inches of rain in 5 days.  Surprised he didn't say how much in the 2 weeks of rain we have had!  Then, we got our snow storm.  Amounts varied over the Counties affected.  We have had flooding due to the excessive rain this month (never mind December) and now snow.  But it has largely melted here where I am, and just lingering amounts as I went to Knoxville this morning.

My youngest son will be getting married May 25th.  He will have the dearest bride ever created this side of heaven.  I love her dearly.  I will hate getting all gussied up in Mother of the Groom type things but even though I am a jeans and tank top or T-shirt woman..dang...that won't do at a wedding so...sigh... OH NO!  That means shoes TOO!!  I don't like shoes except athletic ones and sandals.  I guess those two, Neil and Christi are well worth it though.  :-)

A Mom's Blessing

Today is my second son's birthday.  What a joy he was when he arrived and what a joy he still is, as are all of my sons.  But today I speak of this one, Bruce, who makes me proud and brings honor to his name.

You likely know what I am going to say next as I always say much the same when they have a birthday---that being that all of my sons are truly God's greatest gift to me.  Above anything else I have ever received, these three sons are the most supreme gift I could have.  One longed for and appreciated and which gives me great joy every day of my life.

Happy Birthday dear son.  I am so grateful for you.

Good Grief!

What does a fella gotta do to get simple safety pins for pity sakes?  There came an occasion day before yesterday when I needed three of them, didn't have any and so I confidently went to Walgreen's, Wally World and the Dollar Tree looking for safety pins.  No such thing to be found.  Not even in the entire town.  I was dumb enough to look in baby sections of stores for diaper pins.  Am I kidding?  They must not make them since everyone uses the landfill over-flow items, i.e. disposable diapers.  Sigh.

I asked my almost daughter-in-law if she knew where any could be found and she had to scour the Big City!  FINALLY she found some in a hobby place.  Good grief.

Anyway, I'm home and I still have to re-configure the email ports which I dread.  I hope I do it right.

I have lost a lot of weight.  I didn't realise it till I pulled my jeans up again without unsnapping and unzipping.  PJ's are drooping down and almost off too at night.  Just too busy to eat, food has lost its appeal anyway for now but I am going to try to force myself to eat.  I need to eat better in the a.m. too and I will try to make it oatmeal instead of the 2 pieces of toast which I never finish anyway.  :-)

Things are looking up a tad for right now.  I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
