I am craving and eating Brussels sprouts every DAY! My goodness. I just had my fix for the day!!! I can't get enough of them.  Yummy!

My hand and wrist hurt like a son of a gun.  The person who put me into the brace strapped it snugly and when I finally yelled 'UNCLE' last night before my shower I got up the guts to take it off for the shower even tho it hurt to do so (and put it back on) and the relief was good.  Apparently my arm and hand just take a notion to swell and that's where the pain comes in.  That makes the brace dig into the very tender a bite.  Cannot wait for therapy.

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard operating system to Lion (MAC) and I like it.  I still had some iTunes credit so that paid for half of it.

My middle boy will be headed to Austria tomorrow and will visit an Austrian that we are fond of.  He'll be gone a while and I know he is, as always looking forward to it.  Last year two of the boys went to New Zealand and stayed with a personal friend.   Before that, they headed to  Greece and Turkey and other points.  Spring break for middle son (He is a Teacher) and the youngest goes too..takes vacation from work. The other boy and I stay home to keep the home fires burning.

I also desperately want some succotash but I can't get the can open!!!!

Saturday News

If it didn't look so grotesque I would add a photo of my just out of the cast pitiful shrunken-yet-swollen arm and hand.  Arm flesh is compressed due to being so tightly confined within the long arm cast.  My hand is swollen due to a lack of movement and a tight cast!  It looks horrible so I'll spare you. ;-)  I do have a brace though to help support the bone for a few weeks. Therapy is badly needed and will start sometime next week.

My youngest took me to the orthapaedic clinic as he has done since the first day.  He took me for a celebratory supper afterward.  I even had dessert.  No more fainting feelings now as I have begun to eat.  I lost so much weight I pull my fully fastened and zipped jeans up over me.  That will end as I am remembering to eat now.  Before I didn't really eat as it didn't occur to me to.  That's done.  But before I started eating again,  by late afternoon I was woozey and fainty feeling when I didn't eat and I still didn't have a clue!  ;-)  I think I get it now!!

Just checking in.  xoxoxo

My Family

I got Miss Catt's results and  she will put those in her blog tomorrow she said.

I was shunned all day till after 3 for taking her to her doctor yesterday. She relented when I got home from a Salon visit.  I have told the help I hired that 8/3 was the last day.  Man, that cost me some bucks.  My boys have been the best thru this entire ordeal.

I wanted to take the opportunity to say this: Each year on Mother's Day and their individual birthdays I have always said how humbly grateful I am to have the privilege of being their mother.  They are more to me than anything else in this world.  More than money/wealth, more than any circumstance or just anything this world can offer.  Without them..I have no riches nor anything.  Well,  since my accident, I have found they love me too ;-).  They have been here for me in every way when I have been at my lowest most helpless time and they never hesitated a nanosecond to help me or do for me.  I am a Queen among women that they are my loved blessings.

Thank you sons.

Much love,  Mom

What Would You Do For a Klondike Bar?

I had my first one today.  Did a big grocery shop and decided on some form of icecream.  I never had one of those bars in my life and I expected a mealy ol' icecream sandwich thing.  Insteead it was a bite of heavenly confection with a superior tasting chocolate coating.  I won't eat one a day..too rich but tillI I use them up..what a treat.

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, I have lost so much weight that when I decided to put on a pair of jeans..first time since the accident of course, I had planned on just waiting till my helper got here to get them snapped and zipped.  Not a problem..the were so loose I slid them down, snapped and zipped them while they lay on the bed and just pulled them up that way...already done.  It remains to be seen if I can
maintain the loss. I have got 3/4ths of the weight I gained when I quit smoking 7 or more years ago back off now.  This has not been a diet..this is a total lack of appetite to where I force myself to eat a little.

Tomorrow and Sunday will be majorly bad.  New bathroom floor--one bathroom..2 days of tearing out and replacing.  ;-(

Fair is Fair

I must say, after contacting the person who left his name and address in my last blog regarding my unfortunate experience with telephone service from Comcast, I have been contacted by two supervisors who were very professional and who have endeavored to help me in this odyssey that seems to be my lot so far.  I am encouraged and hope that with small exception, these service interruptions will become fewer in number.   It's only fair to tell you that side of the story as well.

Getting closer to the end of the cast wearing.  ;-)  Here is one of my garden photos from when I could still hold a camera.

You know, a fella could get extra torqued over this

You know, I am so sick of paying what I pay for Comcast services and having intermittent service on the phone and internet.  TV usually remains on.  But when I broke my arm and my knees were injured and I developed cellulitis and could barely walk, I had to keep my cell phone on in the bed beside me if I needed help ( I live alone) because my phone service landline is totally unreliable.  That means my burglar alarm isn't working either during those periods of time.  That was hard to deal with..the specter of no phone when I would have needed it the most.

Don't get me wrong..the Techs are fine men and have done whatever they can.  I am guessing the problem is far larger and in the field.  But if you have  customer who is calling every few weeks or so..maybe a month may pass uneventfully by..FIX it!  This has been the story for several years.

The company is huge and by and large a good corporation I am certain.   Just MY experience service is always having problems and phone, including  911 is unreliable. You never know if the phone will work or not.  Having to wait three 3 days for a service appointment is also terrible.  That's three days with no phone no internet and goodness help you if you're cellphone goes out and you're helpless in the house.

Cast will come off in 2 1/2 weeks I think. Then therapy.  Many thanks for staying with me while I try to peck some thing out.  I deeply appreciate each of you friends.

Will be in stealth mode...

I will be in stealth mode a few days... overtaxed my left arm with all the activity I have been doing the last few days. So now it needs some rest time. I will be back before too long. Thanks again to everyone for your continued support.

Sliced Tomatoes

My helper for 3 hrs was here and while she was, I asked her to slice 6 more tomatoes.  I had a very thick bacon mayo and tomato sandwich.  four slices of bacon.  i also gave into my craving for brussels sprouts and ate the entire package...yummy in the tummy!!!

i have here in front of me a newly found  gas purchase credit card receipt.  july 7, 1992.  the purchase was 9.1 gallons @ $1.09 a gallon. sigh.

Yummy for my Tummy

I have had maybe six tomatoes so far.  I just finished a tomato sandwich liberally sprinkled with black pepper.  I regret I can no longer grind my pepper myself but then, that's one of just about everything I can't do.

I have made a pig of myself eating those tomatoes.  If you could see me attempting to slice one, you'd roll.  These Early Girl tomatoes are very firm even tho ripe. I sharpened the knife and tried to cut thru with pressure from my left hand.  Not a lot of luck. I stabbed them with a fork and tried to hold it still with my inner elbow right arm, as the tomato rested in the saucer so as to slice.  I finally got one butchered and eaten.

Here is one of my pictures taken the day before the accident.

Well, in less than 24 hrs. I have had some improvement.  With the new cast, short arm cast, I am now able to albeit painfully, straighten my arm again.  I am trying to toughen it up in baby steps.  Next, I can now touch my forefinger to my thumb.  First time.  I am working to make a fist with the other fingers.

Best news is, the orthopedic doctor said the cellulitis is gone.  My primary care doctor didn't think so but he assures me it is.  So no more concerns there, but my knee is still swollen and he said one needs to work it out. No drainage needed as it is blood.

I was taken out and treated to lunch. Loved that but I did a drama queen thing. As I have zip appetite I lost 8 pounds in 2 I decided to eat that little lunch I chose.  Soon thereafter, I came close to fainting.  Very embarrassing. I didn't but I felt it coming on.  Too much food on a caved in belleh ;-)

Hoping to continue to strengthen and working on eating more.

cast is changed to a new shorter one

well, been to personal dr. and was at the orthopedic one today as well.  he pronounces the cellilitis as gone.  hm.  leg still is filled some but not like it was, with lotsa blood from injury.  i am a lot less swollen there but still, more to go.

taking the long over the elbow cast off was a long ordeal.  having the requisite xrays was very very painful. it's only 3 weeks, yes, but i am niot able to move my wrist yet,  he commanded i continually flex my fingers.

they've been so restricted that it's hard to do.

thamk you again and again for your support thru this.  Chip..bring the beanie and one for me too.

Will This Ever End?

I came close to a one woman pity party yesterday.  Just frustrated waiting on the hired 3 days a week...3 hrs per visit person and the continual stream of changing personnel when they leave town, etc etc.  and not being able to do 99% of anything myself is why I started the one woman party.  But...I know full well how much worse it could be.   Yepper, I am vastly inconvenienced but when I think of the possibilities that might have been, I know that I am the recipient of mercy.

Thank you from the heart for coming to see me despite my non replies.  Seeing you understand (doing this blog is tiring on my left side already) and come to cheer me on is riches to me.

the picture is a little 4 week old baby..much loved by her adoptive family.  This is Coco.
