Hoping for the conclusion

Thank you everyone for waiting with me.  I appreciated caring company.

My brother finally made it home yesterday after all of this time.  Seems there was a dangerous BP drop on standing along with one other thing that kept him there past the several days ago when he was supposed to be mustered out of the hospital.  His daughter said he's home and doing OK so that is just what my best day is made from.  :-)

Many Thanks

Thank you so much for the thoughts, the prayers especially and the care you gave my brother.

He had the surgery late yesterday afternoon and is in ICU.  Heart surgery is serious of course and the next several days will be crucial as to his recovery.  As I went to bed last evening, all was as well as it can be.

It means so much when there can be and is a prayer circle or caring thoughts when needed for family and our friends here on Blogger.  We are a family too I have always maintained.  Thank you each and all for the support to my brother.

Could Use Some Good Thoughts and Prayers

My remaining brother is in serious guarded condition.  I only learned of it late last night when I got a text.

Hope you'll join me in prayers or purrs for him.  He's all I have left of immediate family outside of my children.  He may have surgery today or possibly tomorrow.  Waiting to hear from his daughter, son or my sister in law.

Saturday and I'm still standing

No mousies around here.  Hope it stays that way.  Now that the weather is significantly warmer, likely I won't see any more until Fall chill.

Absolutely nothing to say.  Just wanted to get rid of the hanta viris post so I am posting today.  I never have anything to that's nothing new.

My oldest is here from last evening after work.  he and Katie Bella have bonded so she was delighted to see him.  She even got up from her napping place and greeted him when he emerged from his room this morning.  And they laid on the floor together snuggling still the lure of coffee got one of them up and in to breakfast.  I'll leave it to you to imagine which one.  Hint:  it wasn't Katie.

I made home made Egg McMuffins again for breakfast.  Next time it will be the traditional eggs and bacon and biscuits.  The cat doesn't ask for bacon the way Admiral did.  Must have had that bacon gene pass her right on by when she was made. :-)

Horrible thunderstorms last night about 2 in the morning but we're still here and no trees fell on us.  Some of you have seen the picture I have posted several times of the house surrounded by trees 75 or more feet high.

Here is something I found that I decided to post regardless of its content.  It reminds me of someone I used to think was a friend...overlooking all the things that were glaring at me.  However, that person is gone and banished from my sight and generally, my thought.  Bye was the best word ever.  :-)

Don't Worry

I took the blog I wrote today down because it worried some kitties and humans.  Research was done and  it's excellent to know about deer mice and the possibility of disease.  Luckily where I live there has been not even one case of hantaviris.  WHEW! Other States have had it but not many.  Here is a link that Simba provided as a frame of reference. Thank you Simba.  xox

Here is the link for Hantaviris in  U.S.

A shout-out to my good friend Horst for sounding a warning after I wrote about the mouse that Katie caught.  You never know and it's great info for those who never thought about these scary facts before.  Now you can be aware and take action if need be.

Meanwhile, I am sincerely hoping for a quieter night! A cluster of three hairballs on the sheet at 0430 and a dead mouse..sheesh..what a start to the day.

Changes Day

My hair is fairly long.  Down to the midpoint of my back.  Today in two hours I am doing my every two years haircutting..not just trims of an inch or so to keep the layers the way I usually do. I find it's drawn back into a low pony tail most of the time so that tells me I am sick of it the way it is.  It has taken several months of courage to make the appointment to get it cut.  The most I allow when I do this is shoulder length.  That means touching the shoulders.  My hair stylist always says about these times that cutting my hair is a risk as she suspects cardiac arrest if she gets it too short,  I told her I'd just sue her for all the crafts she has and makes at her home when she has the time.

It's raining of course.  It was a cloudy day all day yesterday with rain starting in showers during the afternoon and certainly at night.  Today, rain.  Sigh.  Connie in KY gets about the same thing I think.  She  probably has dogwood blooms set already as I do.  They won't get ready and then bloom for several more weeks though.  Tulips are blooming too.  Amazing that all this started January 29th.  My favorite violets, purple and light blue are starring the yard and have been for weeks.  Un-natural albeit beautiful.

Daffodils are still looking good although the ones that came out blooming in January and early February are looking tired now.

Must go over the mountains again for another hard trip for another family day. The garandson is at military school and this will be the last one before he returns home.  Quick trip..back my usual Sunday as the pet sitting costs are scary (but worth it). Gas costs are going to be scary TOO.

Here are some of my daffodils.

Sun again? Be still my heart!

My rained all day and evening yesterday BUT there is sun today and supposed to be the same for much of the weekend.  That however remains to be seen. As I whined before, we get more than our share of rain.

I will go out in the early evening and get some pictures of the Bradford pear tree blossoms and the blooming Tulip Poplar blossoms.  Some folks call them magnolias.  I have since looked them up and they go under both names.  I tend to think of magnolias as the huge heavily scented dinner plate sized (spread out tip to tip petals) blossoms,  the Southern GrandiFlora-- not these small guys that come into bloom quickly and die within two weeks...but I was mistaken it seems).

Katie Isabella won a swag Bag from a Red Carpet Pawty a week ago and it came to her yesterday,  Oh it is a beautiful bag that I can use if Katie isn't at the moment, and it was filled with all kinds of cool things for kitties.  That was nice and quite an expensive gift to have won. picked her name. Coolio!

I am getting an iPad from my youngest as he is getting the newest iteration that will be for sale March 16th I think it is.  I'm getting his present one and Apple TV too.

Next weekend I will be headed back over the mountains assuming the weather allows.  The snow always shows up at the worst times. Miss Katie will have a sitter.  I won't be gone long.

So, what's up, Doc?

Oh noes, Tag! You're IT!

I have been tagged by Michelle to tell some things about me.  I think everyone knows about all there is to know about me really except that which I won't tell.  :-)

A. I'm supposed to describe myself in seven words but I will use sentences.  The fun part one ever sees you the way you see yourself so there'd be some argument no doubt by folks close to me.

I am completely honest, even with myself.

I'm like a Scout, trustworthy.  If I say I will, I will.

I'm a  child of God.  I will be honored if I am therefore villified and/or taken to task for that by those who aren't.

My children are my treasure.

I am a serious amateur photographer.

I write stories and poems.

I love to laugh.

B. Describe what keeps you up at night.

Having to get up very early. I keep napping and looking at the clock.

C.  What Would You Like to Be?

D. What Are You Wearing?

Tee and yoga pants.

E. What is Best and Worst of Blogging?

We all agree that getting to know others is the best.  Finding time is the worst.

F.  Slankets or Not?

A thousand times no.

G. What Scares You?

Not a lot.  Probably being terribly sick.

About the person who tagged me.

A dear blogging friend called Michelle whose excellent blog caught my attention the first time I "met" her and Topaz her cat, on Twitter.   Please go and visit this lovely human being who has made a success out of her life and is always learning --and who is a credit to her family.

I think I only have perhaps one person, Joe   whom I consider to be a brother, to nominate as most others have already participated but if you did not..PLEASE do.  I would love to learn more about you.  xoxox

Another week starting to get toward the middle

Here's a picture of my youngest son.  He was sitting on a picnic table in our yard wearing his old battered black felt hat with a "bullet hole" in the side.  A hole about the size of a bullet hole.  A couple friend called it a bullet hole and the name stayed.

This was taken in the day before digital cameras and taken without much skill either. One that is probably best viewed un-biggafied.

Typical all American boy..adorable with blonde curly hair, blue eyes and freckles scattered on his sweet face.  Hope he's not reading this.  Probably not.

That's my Pontiac in the background and his Dad's arm draped down.

Another field mouse got into the house.  Katie caught it but unlike the Admiral, she did not ded it.  She truly brought it into the bed about 5.  I had no idea of it despite all her thrashing about.  When I couldn't stand the thrashing about any longer I turned on the bedside lamp and saw blood droplets on the top sheet.  I was immediately concerned she'd maybe caught a claw in the crochet edging on the sheet so I walked into the living room and say her with the mouse. I wish she knew that wasn't a toy but she doesn't.  She'd catch it and let it go.  I have three traps out right now where she can't get to them.  But I a not anxious to go to bed tonight.

Friday Thoughts

My goodness I had a lot of varied dreams last night.  They ran the gamut from absurd to a little sad.  I wonder how much had to do with a cat jumping up and rooting under my body from head to waist seemingly looking for something.  That can really jar you for it is as if there was something in the bed to attract her interest and she was trying to get it out.  Worried me enough that I turned on the light (it was just before 4am) and got OUT of the bed to look thoroughly.  Cat dislikers---please  don't comment.  Dogs can also be annoying and it's all part of the life you have with pets. You take the annoying with the good.

I want to go to the next town and look for an end table.  But it's raining off and on so I have allowed that to delay me for a while.  We had our one day of sunshine  for the week yesterday and now, rain till I believe it was, next week.  This incessant rain is really hard to stand sometimes.  Around here it's rain all the time or drought.  In between would be nice.  But not for four years.  There was a drought for years, now it's rain for four years.  Even the moss has grown moss.

So..let me gird myself up with umbrella and credit card and head out here shortly.

This is the star on top of Mill Mountain in Roanoke VA.  MY city.  xoxox
